RSPCA Cupcake Day
At Fur Life Vet Highton Wandana Heights we look forward to participating in the RSPCA Cupcake Day every September. For the last 2 years we have hosted a morning tea that also includes pup cakes to share with our doggy friends!
Our team put in so much effort into baking and bringing lots of sweet treats in and donating to support the amazing work the RSPCA does for animals in need. Every dollar raised helps rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home vulnerable pets.
With your kind donations we were able to raise $771 in 2023 and $318 in 2024 for the RSPCA. Thank you to our Wandana Heights community for all your generosity and kindness, this will help make a big impact for so many animals in need of care.
We look forward to participating again in the Cupcake Day next year!
Santa Photos with Pets
Each December our team organise weekly Santa photos our clients can come and get with all their pets! We love being able to engage with our community. Get your Family Santa Photos with your pets at our Wandana Heights Clinic! Up to 3 animals and 4 people in each sitting. All profits are going to the Fur Life Foundation in support of rural and regional animals in need!

Vet Nurse Day
At Fur Life Vet Highton Highton we’re thrilled to celebrate Vet Nurse Day in October each year, a day dedicated to recognising the hard work, passion, and care that vet nurses bring to our clinic every day.
A huge shoutout to our amazing nurses—Rochelle, Laura and Ava! These incredible women are the backbone of our team, going above and beyond to ensure the health and well-being of every animal in their care. From assisting in surgeries to comforting pets and their owners, their compassion and skills shine through in everything they do.

Outstanding Vet Nurse Award
Congratulations to our Head Nurse Rochelle for winning the Outstanding Vet Nurse Award! Rochelle is a team player, always takes initiative to help others and has genuine empathy and kindness that she gives everyone around her. She is an incredible nurse who is extremely deserving of this award, we are very lucky to have her on our team!
Dr. Sarah volunteering for Vets Beyond Borders
From August 31st to September 5th in 2024, Dr. Sarah volunteered through a group called Vets Beyond Borders and travelled to Thursday Island in the Torres Strait. She helped to do a combination of vaccines, parasite prevention, treating heart worm, desexing surgeries, lump removals etc over 5 days! The team comprised of two vets, two nurses and a receptionist where they did 30 consults and 12 surgeries a day. The surgeries were performed in a converted shipping container and the consults were done in a converted shed with the equipment they needed.
Vets Beyond Borders is a registered charity, established in 2005, which deploys volunteer veterinarians, veterinary nurses, and other animal welfare workers to help improve the lives of animals and developing communities around the world. They receive no government funding and rely entirely on the generosity of compassionate people to help communities and animals in need.
Sarah says that she highly recommends taking the time to do a voluntary trip, it’s an incredible chance to give your knowledge and skill set to a remote community, and it makes you realize how lucky we are with our options for veterinary care on the mainland. It's also a fantastic chance to meet people from all around Australia, and an excuse to see more of our beautiful country; a very humbling experience. We are very proud of her achievement here at Fur Life Vet Highton Highton, well done Sarah!
